
BTS' Jungkook continues to break records even while in the military, with his solo album "Golden" becoming the bestselling K-pop solo artist album in the US for two consecutive years.
Chartdata, an account on social platform X that posts music and chart updates in real time, posted, "JungKook’s ‘GOLDEN’ ends 2024 as the #1 bestselling album by a K-Pop soloist of the year in the US by total units." The About Music, Pop Flop, and Pop Core accounts also celebrated Jungkook's achievement with similar posts.
Released in November 2023, Jungkook's debut solo album "Golden" achieved the remarkable milestone of ranking first in sales among K-pop solo albums in the US for two consecutive years, 2023 and 2024.
In the US, the album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart, with 210,200 equivalent album units sales in its first week. This total included 164,800 album sales, comprising 128,500 physical copies and 36,300 digital downloads. By the end of 2023, "Golden" had sold approximately 244,000 copies in the US.
According to Billboard's 2024 year-end charts, "Golden" ranked No. 80 on the Billboard 200, and No. 10 on Top Album Sales.
Jungkook began his mandatory military service on Dec. 12, 2023, and is scheduled to be discharged on June 11, 2025.
