Hi-Fi Un!corn signs with Sony Music Label on New Year's day

Hi-Fi Un!corn has taken a significant step toward global success by signing a contract with Sony Music Japan on New Year’s Day.

FNC Entertainment announced Wednesday that the group has officially partnered with Japan's largest music label, which wields substantial influence both domestically and across the broader Asian music market.

Hi-Fi Un!corn is a five-member band comprising guitarist Kim Hyun-yul, bassist Son Ki-yoon, vocalist and guitarist Um Tae-min, vocalist Fukushima Shuto, and drummer Heo Min. The band made its simultaneous debut in Korea and Japan after winning the final round of “The Idol Band: Boy’s Battle,” a Korean-Japanese audition program that aired in March 2023.

Before their official debut, Hi-Fi Un!corn gained valuable stage experience by performing as opening acts for several successful bands under FNC Entertainment such as FT Island and CN Blue.

In August last year, the band released their first album, “Fantasia,” in Japan and tickets to all their tour concerts, including additional performances, sold out -- a testament to their rising popularity. In Korea, they showcased their talent at major music festivals, such as “Soundberry Festa ’24,” “2024 Pepsi Festa” and “Grand Mint Festival 2024.”

Hi-Fi Un!corn will be kicking off the year at “1st FNC Band Kingdom in Taoyuan,” where all FNC-affiliated bands will perform. The event is scheduled for Jan. 4-5 at Taoyuan Arena in Taiwan.
