Unfortunately there is no right answer in self-defense.
It is important to practice, since everyone knows practice makes perfect. Sufficient practice can help you remember these techniques by muscle memory rather than memorizing them, which makes your reflexes much faster.
Today’s self-defense technique is another situation where you lose balance and the opponent attacks from above. This technique is for when there is not enough room to twist to either side or push the opponent backward.
See the pictures and description on how to take on the opponent by pulling toward your head.
1. Cross both arms in front of your face to defend your head from attacks from the opponent on top.
2. Grab the opponent’s clothes with both hands with force.
3. Pull on the clothes with all your strength in the direction of your head.
Try this technique with your knee, leg and stomach, not only your hands, in order to gather enough power to push or lift up the opponent.
In picture 3, the defender uses her knee and hands to throw the attacker above her head.
The knee is used to push the opponent upward and the arms are used to throw the opponent off.
