If you’ve lost your balance and fallen to the ground, and an opponent takes advantage of your situation and attacks you from on top, most people will have trouble defending themselves. This is because attacking from above is easier.

The best you can do in such a situation is to get out of it as fast as you can. And here is how you can do this.

1) Cover your face from any attacks to your head and face by crossing your arms in front of you as shown in the picture. The point here is to keep your eyes open to watch your opponent’s every move.

2) Quickly grab the opponent’s clothes. Using both hands will be more powerful than using one hand in this situation.

3) Twist your body to either side while pulling the opponent in the same direction. This way the opponent will lose balance and can easily be subdued.

This self-defense technique will have full effect when using both your hands, arms and whole body at the same time.
