Hundreds of foreign players have come out in force for a chance to play in the Korean Basketball League.
The KBL released the names of 577 prospective basketball players from overseas who are hoping to play for a Korean team here.
According to the KBL, roughly 200 are expected to be invited to the try outs from which 20 will be drafted to play for the league. KBL regulations state that each team is limited to two foreign players.
Of the applicants, 77 players have previous experience in Korea, including Robert Daniels, who led the Anyang KGC to claim the KBL title last season, and Wonju Dongbu Promy’s Rod Benson.
New applicants came from leagues all over the world, including in Israel, Turkey, Japan, Mexico and the U.S.
In 2010, the KBL had 763 foreign applicants.
The KBL will hold tryouts on July 24-25 and the draft will be held on July 26.
