Investigators from an independent counsel raided a Seoul office of the National Election Commission in its probe of a cyber attack on the website of the election watchdog last October.
The special prosecution is looking into a distributed denial-of-service attack on the NEC website on Oct. 26, the day Seoul mayoral by-election was held. The homepage was broken down, making it difficult for voters to find the locations of their polling stations.
디도스 특검, 선관위ㆍ통신회사 압수수색
지난해 10ㆍ26 서울시장 보궐선거일에 발생한 중앙선거관리위원회 홈페이지 디도스(DDoS, 분산서비스거부) 공격 사건을 수사중인 디도스 특별검사팀은 28일 오후 1시 40분부터 중앙선관위 사당동 청사와 KT, LG유플 러스의 전산서버 보관장소 등 5곳에 대한 압수수색을 실시했다고 밝혔다.
지난 26일 서울 역삼동 사무실에서 개소식을 열고 본격 수사에 착수한 디도스 특별검사팀은 박태석(55) 특별검사와 특검보 3명, 파견 검사 10명 등 100여명으로 구성됐다.
특검의 수사기간은 60일이며 1회에 한해 수사기간을 30일 연장할 수 있다.
