Lee Min-ah

Rev. Lee Min-ah, first daughter of former Culture Minster Lee O-young, died on Thursday of stomach cancer. She was 53.

After graduating from Ewha Womans University’s English Literature Department, Lee married former National Assembly member Kim Han-gil and moved to the United States. She graduated from law school there and served as the California state public prosecutor in Los Angeles.

She lived a tumultuous life, as one of her sons died in 2007 and she was diagnosed with stomach cancer. She became a minister in 2009 and published many books on her faith.

She is survived by her husband, Jeff Spencer Buchanan, two sons ― Jang Jin-seong and Jin-young ― and a daughter, Jang Jin-young.

Her body has been placed at Seoul National University Hospital in Hyehwa-dong, central Seoul, and the funeral cortege will leave the hospital on March 17 at 8 a.m.
