Main ingredients:
- 1 block firm tofu
- 1 pack roasted seaweed (for lunch boxes)
- 1 tablespoon starch powder (can substitute with flour)
- 1 bowl rice
- Sesame seeds
- Cooking oil
Sauce ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
Instructions:
Mix the sauce ingredients in a bowl.
Pat the tofu dry with a paper towel and slice it into 1 cm-thick pieces (about 6 pieces).
Wrap each tofu piece with seaweed, then lightly coat both sides with starch powder. (Tip: Since the seaweed shrinks when heated, avoid wrapping it too tightly.)
Heat a pan with oil and fry the tofu on a low heat until golden brown.
Pour the mixed sauce over the tofu and simmer quickly. (Since the sauce reduces fast, flip the tofu quickly to coat evenly.)
Serve the rice in a bowl, drizzle any remaining sauce over the rice, and neatly place the tofu on top. Garnish with sesame seeds. (Feel free to add green onions if desired.)
