[THE INVESTOR] Cos9, an OEM and ODM for cosmetics companies, announced on Sept. 21 that it aims to become one of the top three cosmetics manufacturers, along with Cosmax and Kolmar Korea, by 2020.

Cos9 is a wholly owned subsidiary of Claires Korea, whose best-selling cream from horse oil-based Guerisson range sold more than 30 million worldwide since its introduction in 2014. Claires Korea posted 180 billion won (US$161.22 million) revenue last year.

On Sept. 21, Cos9 unveiled a newly completed 30 billion won factory in Gyeonggi Province, the first wholly underground plant in South Korea, according to the company.

“Cosmetics are sensitive to temperature and humidity and the whole production underground, setup despite the threefold cost, creates a favorable environment against heat, humidity, dust and light,” said Kim Hyeong-tae, president of Cos9.

In addition to manufacturing at the state-of-the-art factory that can produce 10 million cosmetics packs a month, it will take a step forward to original creation manufacturing, developing new items and offer marketing and consulting for its clients. Aiming to reach 200 billion won annual revenue in the next five years.
