Daesung of K-pop boy band Big Bang topped Japan’s leading music chart on Thursday, only a day after his new album was released.

“D’s love,” his second and latest full-length album, placed No. 1 on the Oricon Daily Album Chart by selling 30,099 copies on the first day.

This is the first time that Daesung has hit the top spot of an Oricon chart. He had previously ranked No. 2 on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart with his solo debut album “D’scover,” in February 2013.

“D’s Love” has 10 tracks in Japanese, including four from his previous EP “Rainy Rainy” that had topped the Japanese iTunes’ album chart in June.

The singer plans to hold two solo concerts in Tokyo on Thursday and Friday as part of his ongoing Japan tour.
