Lotte Engineering and Construction said Monday it has won a $70.2 million order to build a highway in Vietnam.

The order, placed by Vietnam Expressway Corp., calls for Lotte E&C to build the first section of the 140-kilometer-long Da Nang-Quang Ngai Expressway.

The South Korean builder will work with local construction company CCI on the 16.5 kilometer stretch of the four-lane highway. It said the construction should be completed in 36 months after work begins.

The overall project is being supported by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, with Lotte already having secured the 14.6-kilometer-long, fourth section of the highway in late 2013.

Beside the road construction projects, the builder said it has actively engaged in various development projects in the Southeast Asian country including the 65-story skyscraper it is building in Hanoi and 66 kilometer-long railway line it is setting up in the Lao Cai region in Northern Vietnam.
