LG Electronics launches W40m OLED TV

[THE INVESTOR] LG Electronics on July 19 unveiled a new 77-inch organic light-emitting diode TV with a hefty price tag of 40 million won (US$35,000), the latest model of its ultra-premium Signature brand that was launched in March.

LG said it plans to launch the newest TV in phases in other markets such as North America, Europe and Asia with aims to strengthen its leadership in the premium TV market.

The highest-priced OLED TV features a sleek design, with a 2.57-millimeter slim panel covered with tempered glass.

The sound system, developed with Harman/Kardon, the luxury audio manufacturer, boasts total output of 80 watts, a 30 percent increase from the previous 65-inch Signature OLED TV.

OLED TV is a key product for LG’s latest upscale push to appeal to luxury customers. The company aims to sell 940,000 OLED TVs this year, almost triple that of last year.
