13일(현지시간) 프랑스 파리에서 초유의 총격 및 폭팔 테러가 발생한 가운데 페이스북이 현지 친구들의 안부를 확인할 수 있는 서비스를 개시했다.

페이스북은 지난 밤 ‘안전 확인 기능’을 공개하고 파리에 있는 사용자들이 스스로 본인의 안전 여부를 확인하게 했다.

이번에 공개된 기능은 “영향권에 있는 모든 친구,” “안전 확인됨,” “확인되지 않음” 세가지 카테고리로 나뉘어 프랑스 외의 국가에 있는 사용자들에게 친구들이 테러 부근 지역에 있는지와 안전 여부를 알려준다.

페이스북은 모든 사용자들에게 “Quickly find and connect with friends in the area. Mark them safe if you know they’re OK (테러 지역에 있는 친구들과 연락해보고 그들이 안전하다는 것이 확인된다면 안전하다고 표시해주세요)”라는 안내 문구도 보냈다.

한편 이번 테러사건은 파리 시내 10구, 11구 극장, 식당과 외장 축구장에 무장 괴한이 침입, 총기를 난사해 손님 등 약 150여명이 숨진 것으로 알려졌다.

지난 1월 파리에서 '샤를리 에브도' 테러가 일어난 지 1년도 지나지 않아 파리 도심에서 발생한 대형 테러로 프랑스 사회는 물론 전세계가 충격에 빠졌다.
