President Lee Jae Myung met with South Korean film directors and actors during his state visit to France on Monday.
Lee met with the cast of director Lee Chang-dong's "Possible Love," including actors Sul Kyung-gu, Jeon Do-yeon and Kim Do-yeon, as well as other leading figures in Korea's entertainment industry, including Kim Min-young, vice president of content for Asia at Netflix.
The film has been officially invited to compete for the Golden Lion at this year's Venice International Film Festival.
The meeting took place at the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in southern France following the opening ceremony of the Lumiere Summit, an international film and audiovisual conference, where the two countries each pledged to invest 500 million euros in their cinema and moving-image industries over five years beginning next year.
During the meeting, director Lee proposed boosting investment in the Korean film industry by expanding tax incentives for individual and private-sector investors who finance film productions.
The president responded, saying, "I'll have them start reviewing the policy as soon as I return to Korea. I'll let you know the outcome later."
