Krafton Chair Chang Byung-Gyu met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday to discuss cooperation in gaming, technology and digital entertainment.

The two sides explored ways to expand Korea-India ties and support the development of India’s gaming and emerging technology sectors, focusing on bringing locally produced games and digital content to global audiences.

The discussions aligned with the Indian government’s “Viksit Bharat” vision and its “Create in India, Create for India, Create for the World” initiative.

The South Korean game developer has invested about $250 million in India and committed an additional $250 million over the next three to four years, bringing its planned total investment in the country to about $500 million.

The company has also established the $670 million Unicorn Growth Fund with Naver and Mirae Asset to expand investment in India. Krafton plans to focus on local gaming intellectual property, startups and the broader ecosystem while extending its investments into artificial intelligence, robotics and deep tech.

Krafton also developed local talent through KIGI Academy, an industry-academia program focused on game development and digital content creation. The company strengthened its foothold in the country by acquiring Nautilus Mobile, the Indian studio behind the “Real Cricket” series.

“India is a key market with outstanding talent across gaming, technology and innovation,” Chang said. “Krafton’s continued investment reflects our long-term confidence in India and our commitment to contributing to its digital economy.”

“Through investment, talent development programs and a focus on emerging technologies, we will work with Indian creators, developers and entrepreneurs to build experiences and technologies that can reach global audiences,” he added.
