A US attack submarine entered the naval base in Busan on Tuesday morning to replenish supplies, the Navy said.
USS Greeneville, a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, entered the Busan Naval Base to allow crew members to rest and to load military supplies.
Commissioned in February 1996, the USS Greeneville is equipped with Tomahawk cruise missiles, 12 vertical launch system cells, Mk-48 torpedoes and four torpedo tubes. It is 110 meters long and 10 m wide, and accommodates about 140 crew members.
“With the visit of USS Greeneville, we will enhance cooperation between the South Korean and US navies and strengthen combined defense readiness,” a naval official said.
