Jeongseon County in Gangwon Province said Sunday that it has begun operating Santa Claus-themed buses, which will run through Jan. 13 to create a festive atmosphere and offer a unique experience for residents and visitors.
Two of the county's Wa-Wa buses -- which are free of charge -- will feature holiday decorations on their exteriors, while their interiors will feature tinsel, ornaments and LED lights to enhance the Christmas mood.
Bus drivers will wear Santa Claus costumes, greet passengers and pose for photos, the county said.
Officials said the program aims to entertain winter tourists and improve the region’s public image. Based on the results of this year’s pilot operation, the county will review whether to expand the service next year.
