A train on the Gyeongui-Jungang Line made an emergency stop in the city of Paju, just north of Seoul, on Friday after authorities identified a problem on the tracks.
According to an official from the state-run railway operator KORAIL, the train was en route to Seoul from Munsan when it was abruptly halted at 3:30 p.m.
Initial reports had suggested the train may have derailed, but no such confirmation was made as of Friday afternoon.
Two passengers complained of minor pain following the sudden stop but did not require hospitalization.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has launched an investigation into the exact cause of the incident and says it will implement appropriate follow-up measures based on its findings. (Yonhap)
