Ahn Ji-young, a singer-songwriter and the sole remaining member of indie pop band Bol4, announced Monday that she has officially ended her contract with Shofar Entertainment, the agency she had been with for a decade.
“Today, I am sharing the news that my 10-year journey with Shofar Entertainment has come to an end,” Ahn said via Instagram. “I gave my all every single day and now I feel both proud and relieved. Though this new beginning may bring some concern, I hope our fans will trust me and follow along.”
Ahn also hinted at future plans, suggesting a new chapter ahead, though she did not disclose whether she would be joining a new agency or pursuing an independent career.
“I’m genuinely excited about this next step with our fans, LoBoly,” she added. “As much as you've supported me, I promise to return the love with great music.”
Shofar Entertainment confirmed the contract termination through an official statement on Monday.
“We announce that our exclusive contract with Bol4, which began in 2015, has officially concluded as of March 2025,” the agency stated. “It has been a great joy to work with Bol4, who gifted many people the universe with lovable music.”
Bol4 was originally formed as a duo and gained public recognition after appearing on Mnet TV competition “Superstar K6” in 2014. With emotional lyrics, distinctive vocals and songwriting abilities, the act rose as an indie sensation.
The group made its official debut in April 2016 with the first EP “Red Ickle” and saw breakout success with the hit track “Galaxy” from first studio album “Red Planet,” released in August of the same year. The two went on to release a string of popular singles, including “Some,” “Travel,” “Tell Me You Love Me” and “To My Youth.”
In April 2020, the duo's other half Woo Ji-yoon departed the group, after which Ahn continued Bol4 activities as a solo act under the same name.
