South Korean builder Daewoo Engineering & Construction Chairman Jung Won-ju has taken the helm as president of the Korea Federation of Construction Contractors, stepping in to guide Korea's construction industry through uncertain times.

The KFCC announced Wednesday that Jung was unanimously elected during its regular general meeting in Seoul. His three-year term runs through February 2028.

"I feel a heavy responsibility taking on this role at a time when the construction industry is struggling due to domestic and global market downturns," Jung said. "At a juncture when major Korean construction firms play an increasingly vital role in representing the industry, I will do my best to tackle various challenges and drive progress.”

Jung’s leadership and deep understanding of domestic and international construction markets make him well-suited for the position, according to the business group. "With Chairman Jung at the helm and the cooperation of member companies, the federation is expected to gain even greater influence in the industry," the KFCC official added.

Founded in 1992, the KFCC represents 26 major Korean construction firms, working to advance the industry and support national economic growth by responding proactively to shifts in the global construction market.
