Hana Financial Group announced Tuesday the launch of a new social contribution project to assist people with disabilities in securing economic and social independence.
The project aims to provide support tailored to four key areas: rehabilitation, education, job seeking and housing amid a steady increase in the number of people with disabilities who are unable to receive substantial public benefits.
Under the project, customized benefits will be provided by Hana Financial to those in urgent need on the basis of the type of their disability, income status and family information. For example, the program includes opportunities for disabled young people to take part in internships with their parents.
The first phase of this project was a ceremony for the delivery of rehabilitation and educational assistive devices to children and adolescents with disabilities at Purme Foundation Nexon Children’s Rehabilitation Hospital on Monday.
Ham Young-joo, chairman of Hana Financial Group, also attended the ceremony to inspect multiple assistive devices currently in use and offered encouragement to the children receiving rehabilitation treatment.
“We are pleased to have these devices replaced and customized for children. We are grateful for this opportunity,” said a parent of one of the recipients of the assistive devices.
Ham expressed his ambitions for the project, stating, “Hana is fully determined to support children and adolescents striving to overcome disabilities and to help them achieve their dreams.” He added, “We will follow up with continuous assistance to uphold their rights and interests, ensuring they have a secure place in society and ultimately bridging the gap between the disabled and non-disabled.”
