South Korea and Vietnam held talks Friday to discuss ways to expand bilateral trade and cooperation in the supply chain and energy industries, the industry ministry said.
Senior officials of the countries discussed various topics, including the new US administration, global supply chain, and promoting cooperation in the nuclear power plant industry and other areas, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said.
"It is a crucial time to bolster economic cooperation with Vietnam, our third-largest trading partner, in a future-oriented manner as tensions are escalating in the global market with the new US government in place," Kim Jong-chul, the ministry's director general for international trade relations, said.
In 2022, the two countries set a goal to expand the volume of trade to $150 billion by 2030. (Yonhap)
