Kim Min-sun (Uijeongbu City Hall), Korea’s top female short-distance speed skater, claimed first place in the 1,000m race, securing another gold medal at the 106th National Winter Sports Festival held at the Taereung International Skating Rink in Nowon-gu, Seoul. She completed the race in 1 minute and 18.52 seconds.

Kim won her first gold medal of the tournament in the women’s general 500m race on Wednesday, recording a time of 38.72 seconds. With these two gold medals, Kim is now preparing for the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games, set to begin on Feb. 7.

In the college-level competition that followed the general events, Lee Na-hyun from Korea National Sports University took first place in the 1,000-meter race with a time of 1 minute and 17.92 seconds. Lee, who broke the junior world record for the 500m in 2024, is a rising star in speed skating.
