Rose of Blackpink jumped to No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 with her Bruno Mars collaboration “APT.,” according to the chart published Tuesday.
She is the first female K-pop soloist to sit among the top five on the main songs chart and renewed the record she set when the song debuted at No. 8. The earworm is spending its 11th week on the chart and ranked No. 2 on the UK’s Official Singles Top 100, up 26 rungs from the previous week to tie the highest spot it claimed in its second week.
“2024 was the most challenging yet most rewarding year for me,” Rose wrote on her Instagram Tuesday, thanking fans and wishing them a belated happy new year.
EXO-CBX to host fan meetup in Japan
Three members of EXO are planning a meet and greet in Japan next month, announced agency INB100 on Tuesday.
EXO-CBX -- Chen, Baekhyun and Xiumin -- will host the fan meetup "Get, Set, Go!" in Yokohama on Feb. 8-9, returning as a trio about six years after the unit's concert in Kobe.
Each member of the EXO subunit has been busy pursuing individual activities. Chen put out his fourth solo EP “Door” in May last year and toured five cities in Asia while Xiumin appeared in a series of entertainment shows as an emcee and a judge. Baekhyun’s fourth solo EP “Hello, World” came out in September last year and sold over a million copies. He held the fanmeet "Chaotic Christmas Party" in Seoul in late December.
Separately, EXO is expected to make a full-group return when the youngest member Sehun completes his military service in September.
Babymonster expands upcoming tour
Babymonster added three more stops to its first international tour, label YG Entertainment said Monday.
The rookie septet will perform in Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok, expanding the tour to 10 cities and 19 live shows in total. The tour will begin with a two-date concert in Seoul later this month and will take the group to two cities in the US and four in Japan. A poster for the tour hinted that the group may further expand the tour.
A trailer video showing the seven members greeting fans at their first fan meet tour last year was uploaded Tuesday, raising expectations for the upcoming tour, "Hello Monster."
Meanwhile, a music video for “Really Like You,” a B-side track from its first album “Drip,” will be unveiled soon. The LP was released in November last year and became its first entry on the Billboard 200 at No. 149.
SHINee’s Onew tops iTunes chart in 17 regions with 4th solo EP
The fourth solo EP from Onew of SHINee headed straight to the top of the iTunes Top Albums Chart in 17 regions, agency Griffin Entertainment said Tuesday.
The EP “Connection” rolled out on Monday and hit the iTunes Albums Chart Worldwide at No. 2 while the main track “Winner” notched the No. 1 spot on real-time music charts at home and entered Melon’s Hot 100.
The singer participated in producing and writing lyrics for all six songs on the album.
On Jan. 15-16, he is set to hold a solo concert titled after the album in Yokohama, Japan. He will host a three-day gig in Seoul the following week and visit Taipei and Macao in April.
