On Thursday, Japan’s largest telecommunications company NTT Docomo unveiled its first girl group Cosmosy, composed of Japanese members and created primarily with K-pop producer teams.

The group’s name is derived from “Cosmos of Youth,” symbolizing the potential of youth, infinite possibilities, growth and conflict.

“Details regarding Cosmosy’s global debut, including label partnerships and digital music services, will be announced soon. We aim to captivate K-pop fans worldwide with a fresh appeal,” a NTT Docomo Studio & Live official said in a statement.

NTT Docomo Studio & Live also released the music video for Cosmosy’s debut single “Zigy=Zigy” on the group’s official social media channels.

The “Zigy=Zigy” music video highlights the individuality and identity of Cosmosy’s four members -- A’mei, De_hana, Himesha and Kamion. The video also portrays the group’s concept of navigating a fantastical and futuristic universe. The video features the creative contributions of teams that have worked with leading K-pop groups such as Blackpink, aespa and Le Sserafim.

“Zigy=Zigy,” featuring lyrics in English, Korean and Japanese, is an Afro-pop-inspired dance track that integrates traditional Eastern influences.

The song explores teenage girls' inner struggles and identity dilemmas facing a breakup. Its upbeat pluck synth sounds and an unexpected chorus are joined with a melody reminiscent of Japanese games.

The track was produced primarily by Korean musicians including Citizens of Cosmos and an A&R crew Amplified, with overall creative direction by Sinxity, known for his work with Blackpink, including its hit “As If It’s Your Last.” Choreographer Mood Dok, a former member of YGX, choreographed the song.
