[THE INVESTOR] South Korea’s industrial output rose for the second straight month in June, a government report showed on July 29.

Production in the mining, manufacturing, gas and electricity industries edged up 0.8 percent last month from a year ago, according to the report by Statistics Korea.

The June figure marked the second consecutive positive growth, following a 4.7 percent jump in May.

From a month earlier, however, industrial output backtracked 0.2 percent.

Production in the service sector jumped 5.4 percent from a year earlier, with a 1 percent on-month gain.
