Leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties, including Rep. Kweon Seong-dong (second from left), acting leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, and Rep. Lee Jae-myung (second from right), leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea, come together for a Christmas service at Yoido Full Gospel Church in western Seoul on Wednesday.

The friction between the ruling and main opposition parties has escalted since President Yoon Suk Yeol's short-lived martial law decree on Dec. 3. The motion to impeach Yoon was passed at the National Assembly on Dec. 14, but the two sides remain at odds over a range of related issues, including the role and extent of acting President Han Duck-soo's powers.
