South Korean singer Jung Joon-young on Tuesday made his official debut with single “Spotless Mind,” a pre-released title track off his upcoming album.

The ballad track by the 24-year-old singer, who is best known to the public for his appearance in the popular audition program “Superstar K4,” immediately made an impact on the country’s charts. Just an hour after release, “Spotless Mind” nabbed the top spot on both Mnet and Bugs, and took the No. 5 spot on Soribada.

The new song, written by Luvan and Wonderkid, tells a story of a young man struggling to cope with the aftereffects of a painful break-up. The music combines Jung’s deep voice with a rock ballad sound.

Jung’s debut album will be released next Tuesday.
