With the continued global success that Psy has seen since his “Gangnam Style” music video went viral, as well as the success of Big Bang’s first world tour last year, management at the K-pop stars’ local talent agency YG Entertainment is reportedly looking to China as the next big market for its artists.

As the second most profitable entertainment agency in Korea after S.M. Entertainment, YG is looking to expand internationally, trusting that China will be the next big market for K-pop.

“We now have more confidence after Psy’s global phenomenon and Big Bang’s world tour. So probably we can put more resources and invest more into the Greater China market, which we believe will be the next big market next to Japan,” Simon Choi Sung-jun, YG chief operating officer, said in an interview with Hong Kong’s the South China Morning Post.

While approximately half of YG’s revenue is currently generated from international activities, mainly in Japan, Choi said the agency planned to open up an office within the year, in either Beijing or Shanghai, that is dedicated to promoting YG artists within the Chinese music market through concerts and other events.
