SINGAPORE, Sept. 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- DKSH Business Unit Healthcare, a leading partner for healthcare companies seeking to grow their business in Asia and beyond, has launched its inaugural Patient Purpose Day across 10 global markets. The annual initiative, set to happen in the month of September in conjunction with World Patient Safety Day, reinforces the company's commitment to enhancing patient outcomes and fostering a more meaningful impact on the healthcare landscape.

As part of the initiative, DKSH is partnering with the local Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in key Southeast Asia markets including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia, to support ongoing humanitarian causes that strongly align with DKSH's commitment to raising the quality of life in the communities that it serves. These causes include health screenings for the disadvantaged in rural areas and the ElderAid program for senior citizens.

Beyond this, on-site activations with participation from some key client partners will be carried out in Taiwan, the Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Switzerland, and Australia.

This initiative marks a significant and tangible step forward for DKSH Business Unit Healthcare—the largest of the four strategic Business Units under DKSH Group—in its efforts to align operations with a broader patient purpose. As a healthcare-driven initiative, DKSH Patient Purpose Day further cements the Group's purpose of "enriching people's lives", by placing patients at the forefront of its business strategy.

"At DKSH Healthcare, we have a real and tangible purpose: Enriching People's Lives by delivering quality and wide-ranging healthcare products and solutions to patients in our markets," Bijay Singh, Global Head, Business Unit Healthcare, DKSH, said. "Achieving health for all is a shared goal that requires dedication and collaboration from players across the industry. Patient Purpose Day reinforces our commitment to amplify positive social impact together with our partners; it's a reminder that what we do can affect the lives of our patients and the surrounding communities."

The occasion will encompass a variety of on-site activities to engage employees and facilitate their pledge towards better patient outcomes. This includes varying health and wellness activities in each market, empowering employees to be patient advocates and lead by example in the company's efforts to champion greater patient well-being.

Ms. Juja Kim, Deputy Regional Director, International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies, Asia Pacific Regional Office shared, "We are thrilled to be partnering with DKSH for Patient Purpose Day, reaffirming our shared commitment towards elevating patient outcomes and making a positive impact on the lives of people. This collaboration strongly resonates with our core values of extending assistance without bias, ensuring that aid reaches those in need, without discrimination or hesitation. When we partner with purpose-driven organizations like DKSH, we can make a greater mark on improving the lives of those who need support."

"Singapore is one of the fastest aging countries in the world, and will reach 'super aged' status in 2026. We are grateful that DKSH is mobilising support for the Singapore Red Cross' eldercare efforts through this meaningful fundraising initiative. The donations will go a long way to support seniors who live alone, ensuring their well-being and safety, and enabling community aging-in-place," said Benjamin William, Singapore Red Cross Secretary-General/CEO.

DKSH intends to roll out Patient Purpose Day annually, in a bid to engage a wide base of healthcare and community partners to drive meaningful impact in the markets it serves.
