SEOUL, South Korea, Sept. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- UPS (NYSE: UPS) announced that Bobby Seo has been appointed as Managing Director of UPS Korea, effective September 1, 2023. He will be responsible for overseeing the overall express operations of UPS Korea.

Bobby brings to this key appointment a unique blend of multi-disciplinary expertise gathered over 27 years within various functions in UPS, including package center operations, customs brokerage and border clearance, industrial engineering, and systems infrastructure.

The strength of Bobby's professional network and deep operational expertise were brought to bear particularly during the pandemic, when his ability to mobilize cross-functional teams to deploy contingency plans ensured that UPS Korea maintained stable operations even at the height of global supply chain disruptions.

Over the years, Bobby's relentless customer-first focus means he is in constant dialogue with customers and sales teams to enhance customers' experience by improving efficiency, cost effectiveness, and service speed and reliability, regardless of his role.

"With demand for cross-border e-commerce and specialized healthcare logistics on the rise, UPS Korea plans to increase operational capacity at our hub at Incheon International Airport, and deepen our cold chain capabilities. I'm looking forward to collaborating more closely with our customers to ensure we can partner with them to fulfil their international growth ambitions," said Bobby.

Just last year, UPS Korea expanded its healthcare service offering with the launch of UPS Premier, a 'white glove' shipping service targeted at healthcare customers who require precision logistics for patient-critical, time- and temperature-sensitive products.

Bobby Seo is the Managing Director for UPS Korea, and is based in Seoul. He is responsible for the strategic management of UPS's express delivery operations in South Korea.

A UPS veteran of 27 years, Bobby brings a unique all-roundedness and depth of perspective across multiple areas of expertise from his time in various departments including package center operations, customs brokerage and border clearance, industrial engineering, and systems infrastructure.

Bobby most recently oversaw package center operations in Seoul, where he represented UPS Korea in strategic engagements with customs brokerage stakeholders and the local labor union. As head of industrial engineering between 2013 and 2020, Bobby was instrumental in the expansion of UPS Korea's hub at Incheon International Airport (ICN), and in the implementation of an asset-light delivery model.

The systems he developed and deployed while in the systems infrastructure division between 1996 and 2011 helped accelerate customs clearance for UPS packages. He also played a critical role in ensuring the smooth transition of data management systems during the complex process of relocating UPS Korea's hub and gateway operations from Gimpo International Airport to ICN in 2001.

Bobby holds a bachelor's degree in Information and Communications from Gimpo University in South Korea.
