SK Telecom said Sunday it has formed a strategic partnership with Now Corporation to build 5G infrastructure in the Philippines.

SKT will share its know-how in 5G infrastructure design and construction, opening up the export of business-to-business solutions between Korea and the Philippines.

By the first half of 2020, SKT will draw up a road map for 5G services, design infrastructure in the Philippines and provide education on core 5G technologies.

The company will later aid the building of 5G standalone commercialization infrastructure, provide in-building solutions and proceed with the development of 5G B2B services.

SKT said it will provide consultation on the latest technologies for every step of Now Corporation’s 5G commercialization.

Now Corporation, based in the capital city of Manila, has businesses in hyperspeed internet, Internet Protocol television, software services and B2B solutions. The group is expanding its business portfolio to telecommunications through its subsidiary Now Telecom.

Now Telecom is leveraging its nationwide wired and wireless telecom network in the Philippines to commercialize 5G-based internet services.
