Power outage in Busan affects 130 households

An explosion from a telephone pole transformer caused a power outage that affected around 130 households in Jung-gu, Busan, on Wednesday.

The transformer blew up due to the shock from window frames that fell from the 13th and 16th floors of a hotel around 3:30 a.m., according to local police. The explosion also damaged a patrol car in front of the Nampo Police Office and four parked cars.

Korea Electric Power Corp. did repair work after the accident occurred and electricity was restored by 7:15 a.m.

The local weather agency issued a warning for strong winds on Tuesday night. Police are further investigating the cause of the accident.
