President Park Geun-hye, who was impeached by the parliament earlier this month, will remain low-key amid the fourth anniversary of her victory at the 2012 presidential race, political observers said Sunday.

Monday marks the fourth anniversary of her victory, when she defeated Moon Jae-in, former head of the Democratic Party by grabbing 51.6 percent of the votes cast in the general election.

Park was impeached on Dec. 9, amid allegations that she served as an accomplice to her confidante Choi Soon-sil, who exerted influence on state affairs and personally benefitted from her ties to the chief executive.

"The president is calmly reviewing legal issues," an official from the ruling Saenuri Party said. "She is coping with the situation in a serene manner." (Yonhap)
