Executives and workers at Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corp. visited a community center in Jung-gu, central Seoul, to share the spirit of the upcoming Korean Thanksgiving holiday Chuseok with minority groups, the company said Wednesday.

“I am glad to share the holiday spirit with those in need,” said Choi Kwang-ho, CEO of Hanwha E&C, adding that he hopes the food and presents delivered could be helpful.

Some 50 volunteers consisted of elders from the community center, and executives and employees of Hanwha E&C, including CEO Choi, gathered at the community center to make songpyeon, Korean rice cake traditionally eaten on Chuseok slated for Sept. 14 - 16.

They also delivered goodie bags filled with necessities and handmade songpyeons to 30 households near the center, the company said.

Since 2002, the construction unit of Hanwha Group has managed various types of volunteer work, such as supporting children in an orphanage to pursue their dreams as an architect and more, the firm said in a statement.
