Ottogi, a leading food company here, released an instant noodle product inspired by budae ijigae, or Korean army stew, earlier this month, the company said Monday.

Budae jjigae is a popular Korean dish made with kimchi, processed meats and baked beans, among other ingredients.

Ottogi used beef leg bone broth as a soup base for its product to produce a deeper and spicier taste. It also used noodles that are extra chewy in texture, the company said.

The new product has eight different dried ingredients including ham, sausage, kimchi and red chili, Ottogi said, adding that it also contains a special sauce to be added after cooking the noodles.

“Customers can enjoy budae jjigae at their dining table, as they would at restaurants,” an official at the firm said. The dish is recommended to be eaten with rice.
