Star-crossed South Korean handball player Kim On-a has been ruled out of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics with a shoulder injury.

The Korean Olympic Committee said Tuesday Kim, one of the top offensive weapons on the women's team, will miss the rest of the Olympics with the injury suffered against Sweden on Monday.

South Korea will name Kim's replacement momentarily.

South Korea lost that game 31-28, their second straight loss in the preliminary round. South Korea lost to Russia 30-25 in the first Group B match last Saturday.

Kim led South Korea with six goals against Russia, and left the match against Sweden having bagged three goals.

At the 2012 London Olympics, Kim injured her knee during the first match and missed the rest of the competition, as South Korea finished fourth.
