[THE INVESTOR] BMW Korea will recall 11,968 cars sold here after a defect was found in their baby seat latch, the Transportation Ministry said Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the cars’ ISOFIX baby seat latch may break under repeated stress and thus become unable to hold the baby seat safely in place.

The recall affects 11 models, including X3 and xDrive20i, produced between Nov. 19, 2010 and April 15, 2016. Owners of the cars can get their vehicle fixed at BMW Korea service centers free of charge from Aug. 19.

GM Korea is also set to recall 384 units over glitches found in seat belts that might come loose in the event of an accident, the ministry announced.

Malibu and Alpheon models made between July. 9, 2015 and Aug. 3, 2016 are subject to the recall and eligible for free repair at GM Korea service centers from Aug. 13.
