[THE INVESTOR] One in four KOSDAQ-listed companies has not held an investors relations meeting over the past 10 years, according to local bourse operator Korea Exchange on July 3.

A total of 287 companies that are listed on the country’s secondary KOSDAQ market have neglected their duty to invite investors and provide them corporate information and projections.

The Financial Supervisory Services’ disclosure system also showed that 24.9 percent of the KOSDAQ-listed firms haven’t held a single IR event since 2006.

“It is listed company’s duty to transparently disclose their corporate info to investors via an IR session. As the bourse operator, we will encourage them to make persistent efforts to make sure they hold IR meetings,” said Kim Jae-joon, chairman of the KOSDAQ Market Commission at the Korea Exchange.

Among top 100 KOSDAQ-listed companies by market capitalization, four -- Dongsuh, Maeil Dairy Industry, Sungwoo Hitech and Korea Information&Communication – haven’t invited institutional investors over nearly a decade.
