Ssangyong Motor’s sales grow 14% in June

[THE INVESTOR] Ssangyong Motor said July 1 that its sales grew 13.8 percent on-year in June, driven by the growing demand for its Tivoli crossover sport utility vehicle.

Sales came to 14,077 units last month, compared with the previous year’s 12,372, the local unit of India’s Mahindra & Mahindra said. The figures do not include complete knockdown kits that are shipped overseas for assembly.

Its domestic sales jumped 15.8 percent to 9,750 units while exports came to 4,417 units last month, up 11.8 percent from a year earlier.

The carmaker said its cumulative sales for the January-June period stood at 74,487 units, up 7.1 percent from last year.

Ssangyong Motor’s strong sales were driven by Tivoli and its long-body version Tivoli Air.

The June sales of Tivoli models set a new monthly record of 8,065 units since its launch in January 2015. Its previous record was 7,788 units in April.

The Tivoli models passed the 100,000 mark in cumulative production on June 13, and its cumulative sales also surpassed 100,000 units in June with 104,445 units, comprising of 72,990 units in domestic sales and 31,455 units in exports.
