The Islamic State group has called for an act of terrorism against a Korean citizen as well as U.S. Air Force installations based here, the state run spy agency said Sunday.

“ISIL -- Islamic State of Iraq and Levant -- has recently incited terrorism against the 77 military and NATO air bases across the world and civilians from 21 countries, by spreading the information about them via a messenger service Telegram,” the National Intelligence Service said via a press release.

In the message, reported by international media earlier in the month, the IS-aligned United Cyber Caliphate distributed a “kill list” encompassing the names, home addresses and emails of 8,318 individuals from countries including Korea, U.S., U.K., China, Brazil, France.

“Kill them strongly to take revenge for Muslims,” it said.

The jihadist militant group, also referred to as IS or ISIS -- is believed to have obtained the information via its own hacking group “United Cyber Caliphate,” the NIS said.

According to NIS officials, a Google-obtained satellite map, coordinates and the homepage of U.S. Air Force units in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, and Gunsan, North Jeolla Province, have been disclosed by the group.

An employee of a local welfare organization is believed to have been pinpointed as a target of IS, the extremist group is believed to have grabbed the individual’s information by hacking the organization’s homepage.

The NIS has notified the U.S. Air Force in Korea, the military, police and other related organizations, and the individual whose information has been revealed will be put under a police protection program.

The spy agency said that the latest revelation reaffirms that IS has included Korea as a target of potential terrorism, adding that 50 individuals affiliated with terrorist organizations have been deported from Korea in the last five years. Two Korean citizens have also been spotted attempting to join such organizations.

It vowed to establish a pan-government counterterrorism system based on the recently endorsed antiterrorism act.
