The U.S. special envoy for North Korea policy will visit China next week for a regional security forum and talks with Chinese officials, the State Department said Friday.
Amb. Sung Kim will be in Beijing on June 21-23 for "meetings with Chinese officials and attend the Track 1.5 Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue," the department said in a release.
The forum brings together high-level policymakers, defense ministry officials, military officers, and researchers from China, Japan, North and South Korea, Russia, and the U.S. for discussions on reducing the risk of military conflict in the region.
The department also announced that Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Daniel Russel will travel to Japan on June 19-21 for the U.S.-Japan-India Trilateral Dialogue and Ninth U.S.-India Consultations on East Asia. (Yonhap)
