[THE INVESTOR] Top Korean automaker Hyundai Motor plans to recall 62,319 units of its Tucson sport utility vehicle lineup due to a faulty hood lock system, the Transport Ministry said on June 16.

The model’s secondary hood latch remains in the wrong position when the hood is closed, as a result of which it may unexpectedly open while driving, the ministry said.

The problem has been found in 62,319 Tucson SUVs manufactured between March 15, 2015, and March 15, 2016.

Hyundai Motor will take responsibility for the matter as it offered to provide free repair services from June 30 at its service centers nationwide.

The ministry said GM Korea will also recall 5,756 units of its Lacetti Premier compact produced between July 24, 2008, and Aug. 31, 2010, for a defect in the engine control grid.
