South Korean tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. on Thursday unveiled two new fitness wearables -- the fitness tracker Gear Fit2 and wireless earbuds Gear IconX -- as part of efforts to grab a large slice in the fast-growing wearable device market.

The Gear Fit 2, a follow-up to the original Gear Fit smartwatch released in 2014, comes with GPS sensors for more accurate measuring of distance and heart rates. 

The model with a price tag of $180 has a wider touch screen with a 1.55-inch super active mode organic light-emitting diode display.

The device can be synced with Samsung's fitness tracking application, S Health, Samsung said.

Samsung Gear IconX is a set of Bluetooth earbuds that feature touchless controls for navigating through a list of songs.

The new fitness headset also has 4 gigabytes of storage which can store some 1,000 songs.

The earbuds have sensors designed to capture data during workouts and a voice guide that provides coaching. It can also sync with S Health.

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 will begin sales in North America and Europe on June 10, while the Gear IconX will be released in the third quarter of this year for the price of $199. (Yonhap)
