The accused denied all charges, claiming his daughter was a pathological liar, however the Incheon district court dismissed his plea as “the victim could specifically describe the time, place and the method of the abuse” and “it was difficult to imagine she conjured the story out of thin air.”

One of the victim’s detailed accounts took place in 2012 when she was a middle school student. When she came out to see her father during school recess as he had promised to give her a chocolate pie, she was groped in his car.

The accused claimed his daughter was an unstoppable teenage delinquent and that she had made false reports against him because she did not want to stay at home.

Regarding the “pregnancy test” he told the court that his daughter had stayed out the night before and that he had been genuinely worried of her possibly having been sexually assaulted.

His continued efforts to blame his daughter prompted the court to determine his attitude as unrepentant and shameless, leading to the ruling of the 5-year jail term.

The victim grew up without her biological mother, who ran away upon giving birth. She grew up under her grandfather’s care and at an orphanage, before finally moving in with her father when she was in primary school. She has a stepmother to whom she confided about her father’s sexual misdemeanors.

The father’s personal information will be made public online during the five years at http://www.sexoffender.go.kr/index.nsc. He will also receive 40 hours of rehabilitation program.
