Korea’s top cosmetics maker AmorePacific said Monday its first-quarter earnings jumped 33.1 percent on-year, mainly on the back of solid overseas performance.

Net profit came to 325 billion won ($284 million) on a consolidated basis, compared with a profit of 244 billion won a year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.

Operating income rose 31 percent on-year to 419 billion won, while sales gained 22 percent to 1.75 trillion won.

In particular, overseas sales grew 46 percent.

“The overseas market drove profitability through the expansion of distribution channels online and off-line,” the firm said.

Revenue from China, its largest export destination remained strong, while that from the North American region also increased. In contrast, the European market showed sluggish performance.

Broken down by brand, budget-line Innisfree marked the highest growth of 31 percent, while Etude House, a color makeup line, recovered from last year’s slump to advance 16 percent during the period.
