SOCAR, a local car-sharing service start-up, said Tuesday that BMW’s luxury vehicles are joining its car lineup to meet the growing demand for high-end models among users.

The premium lineup, named “TRIGGER,” will include BMW’s 520d sedan and X3 sport utility vehicle models to start services from early May.

“There have been constant requests for premium and bigger cars from customers,” said Shin Seung-ho, SOCAR’s marketing director. “We will continue marketing activities to elevate awareness about car-sharing.”

The company said the BMW models will be offered to select drivers like those who are 26 years old or above or have used SOCAR services more than 20 times.

SOCAR started its car-sharing service in March 2012 and has about 1.7 million registered users now.
