Korea’s trade promotion agency KOTRA will open a two-day class for local firms wanting to enter the halal food market around the world, officials said Tuesday.

Starting March 22, the agency will provide marketing strategy and information on halal certification systems in the Middle East, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The global market for halal food, which is produced or processed under Islamic dietary guidelines, is expected to grow to $1.62 trillion in 2018 from $1.08 trillion in 2012, according to officials. Halal products also include cosmetics and drugs.
