Asiana Airlines received approval from the Transport Ministry to oversee flight training for cabin crew, according to the carrier Tuesday.

The certification, attained on March 8, allows Asiana to provide safety training for cabin crew for other airlines, both from Korea and abroad. 

“We hope for this to be an opportunity for Asiana to spread its specialized know-how in cabin crew safety training to other airlines in Korea and overseas,” Asiana Airlines said in a statement.

Asiana is the first in Korea to receive the Aviation Training Organization recognition, according to the airline, and it comes after five months of screening by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The carrier’s safety training facilities underwent a large expansion in March 2013, and now comprises of 12 zones including those for simulating emergency landings, emergency care, fire safety and evacuation. The airline’s safety instructors hold certifications from internationally recognized organizations such as the International Air Transport Association.
