South Korea's state international aid agency said Thursday it has opened a new health center in Lima, Peru, to provide medical assistance and cooperation to the South American country.
The new health care center is the eighth of its kind that the South Korean government has set up in Peru free of charge since 1992, according to the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
KOICA said the modern health center named "Santa Luzmila Mother and Child Center" opened in Comas, in the northern outskirts of the Peruvian capital, on Monday afternoon (local time) and offers medical care to some 300,000 residents in that region.
The center is 2,400 square meters and cost $7.5 million to build, according to KOICA. Construction began in 2013.
A KOICA official said Comas is an area with low quality of life where there are many needy people with scarce health and medical facilities. (Yonhap)
